Giving Thanks Always

William Bradfords Plymouth Plantation
As we prepare for yet another Thanksgiving feast, I'm reminded of why we even celebrate this holiday. Its not all about Turkey, pies, Football and fall decorations, but about freedom in Christ. The Puritans (pilgrims) where in search of a land where their Christian Liberty would not be trampled on. They found such a land thousands of miles away from their home of England. That first year cost them just about everything Including most of their lives. As they gathered around for an Autumn feast the Pilgrims truly had much to be thankful for, 1. Surviving one of the hardest winters, 2. The Native Americans who taught them how to grow corn, fertilizing and storing food and grain. 3. For each other for without each of them and their special gifts they surely would have perished.....To find out more on the Puritans and their pilgrimage across the Atlantic read Nathaniel Philbricks' 'Mayflower' or William Bradfords' 'of Plymouth Plantation' both give detailed accounts of the journey, the lives of the Puritans that first year in a new world, and much much more.
